Media skills

The use of media, printed and especially electronic, is a daily part of every pupil (and adult). The internet, books, movies, images, magazines, newspapers, digital audio, symbols ... The range of the various kinds of media is abundant and provides many opportuities to work with. It is vital for information search, art, entertainment and negotiate oneself in our society.
But all media contain commercial, political and ideological implications that might be either obvious or hidden. They are affected by aesthetical codes and conventions and are part of our individual and collective constructions of realtiy.
One can see that media are not only an important but also a powerful part in our lives and therefore it is essential to create an awareness amongst our pupils how media can contribute to and influence our lives and perspectives.
Media skills are a part of our curricula and should be gained in class. Here is an overview of the profile of media skills:
