My Favorite Page

     This is an idea to motivate pupils to read! The project is called "My Favorite Page" and it originally comes from a French teacher who wanted to teach without using the textbook every lesson.
The idea is the following: books with all kind of different subjects are distributed on a table in the middle of the classroom. It is important that the books contain pictures, photographs or images to facilitate the understanding. Every pupil chooses one book.
     In the following lessons, the pupils become acquainted with reading strategies and they learn how to write about the most relevant aspects of a text. Additionally, they understand how to create a well - structured and colourful visualization on a poster. Then, every pupil works chooses his favorite page of the book. They prepare a little presentation in which they inform their classmates about the main characters and the plot of the book. Therefore it is highly important that they practice to speak in front of an audience. A well - working trick is to fold a piece of paper in the middle. On the left side, they write the complete text. On the right side, they write the most important key words. If they should the thread, they have the possibility of turning the page. After having taken a look at the complete text, they can come back to the list of key words easily.
